1. Who We Are

Aura Weather is developed and operated by VantarGroup LLC, a company registered in Wyoming, USA. References to "we", "us", or "our" in this policy refer to VantarGroup LLC.

2. Information We Collect

Location Data

With your explicit permission, Aura Weather accesses your device's GPS coordinates via Apple CoreLocation. We request the "When In Use" permission only — the app never accesses your location in the background.

Your coordinates (latitude and longitude) are sent to our backend API at api.auraweather.app solely to retrieve weather information for your location. We do not log, store, or associate your coordinates with any personal identifier. Each request is stateless and ephemeral.

You may revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Aura Weather.

User Preferences

App settings such as your preferred units (metric/imperial), saved locations, and display preferences are stored locally on your device using Apple's @AppStorage (UserDefaults). This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.

Automatically Collected Technical Data

We do not currently use any analytics SDKs, crash reporting services, or advertising platforms. Standard network request logs may be generated by our API infrastructure (IP address, request timestamp, response code) for security and operational purposes; these logs are not used for profiling and are rotated regularly.

3. What We Do NOT Collect

• Name, email address, or any contact information
• User accounts or passwords
• Device advertising identifier (IDFA)
• Cross-app or cross-site tracking data
• Contacts, calendar, photos, or any other device data
• Payment information (processed entirely by Apple)
• Background location data
• Behavioral analytics or usage profiles

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above solely to:

• Fetch weather forecasts, air quality data, and marine conditions for your current location
• Display accurate, location-specific weather information within the app
• Operate and maintain the reliability and security of our API infrastructure

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, machine learning training beyond real-time inference, or any other purpose.

5. Third-Party Services

Aura Weather retrieves weather, air quality, marine, and radar data from the following third-party providers. Your location coordinates may be passed to these services as part of data retrieval requests.

We do not integrate any advertising networks, social media SDKs, or user-tracking analytics platforms. Apple's standard App Store and in-app purchase infrastructure handles all payment processing under Apple's own Privacy Policy.

6. Data Retention

Because we do not store personal data on our servers, there is no retention period to define. Each weather request is processed transiently — your coordinates are received, used to query weather providers, and the result is returned to your device. Nothing is written to a database.

Your preferences stored locally on-device are retained until you delete the app or manually reset them within iOS Settings.

7. Children's Privacy

Aura Weather is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at hello@auraweather.app and we will take appropriate steps to delete any such information.

8. Your Privacy Rights

For Users in the European Economic Area (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the following rights:

• Right of access — Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
• Right to rectification — Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
• Right to erasure — Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
• Right to restriction — Request that we limit how we process your data.
• Right to data portability — Receive your data in a machine-readable format.
• Right to object — Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
• Right to withdraw consent — Withdraw consent at any time (e.g., revoke location permission in iOS Settings).

For California Residents (CCPA)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, California residents have the right to:

• Know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, or sell.
• Delete personal information we have collected from them.
• Opt out of the sale of personal information.
• Non-discrimination for exercising any CCPA rights.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising. To submit a CCPA request, contact hello@auraweather.app.

9. Security

All communication between the Aura Weather app and our API is encrypted using TLS (HTTPS). We do not transmit your location over unencrypted connections. While no system is 100% secure, we design our infrastructure to minimize data exposure by processing requests without persisting personal data.

10. International Transfers

VantarGroup LLC is headquartered in the United States. If you use Aura Weather from outside the United States, your location coordinates may be processed on servers located in the US. By using the app, you consent to this transfer. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place consistent with applicable data protection laws.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will provide notice through the app or App Store release notes. Your continued use of Aura Weather after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
